PART A: What significant information did I learn about these interviews?
One significant thing that most of these people from the interview had in common was that they were passed through many hardships. The hardships are harsh but they got through them and they became stronger. An example of some of these hardships are that they were put in a lot of danger at their jobs. Chris Thorton was an iron worker. He told stories about how he waas hurt and many other people got hurt in his job. He said how he was squeezed between a crane. His collar bone, all the ribs in his body, and three vertebrae broke. Another example of how people were passed through hardships is Mr. Garavelli. He was a stonecutter. He talked about what the dust in the stonesheds does to people. A lot of the stonecutters died from the silica. Mr. Garavelli learned from other peoples' experiences with silica and he knew that in his end of the shed there wasn't much dust. He learned that silica kills like a knife. One other hardship that some people went through are tests like Mrs. Marie Haggerty has been through. Mrs. Marie Haggerty was cleaning one day and she saw someone left a five dollar bill on the dresser. She learned that she was being tested and she did not take the money. Through her experience in cleaning for a while, she learned that these were tests. She knew when people were testing her and she learned to make sure she keep on going with her work and not be tempted by the tests.
